What is the purpose of Aeration?
Aeration is the process of mechanically removing small plugs of thatch and soil from the lawn to improve natural soil aeration. These small plugs allow air to penetrate the soil as well as lets seeds and fertilizer to get into the ground. The plugs will eventually breakdown and cover the seed which will allow new growth.
What is the purpose of verticutting?
A verticutter makes vertical cuts through the bottom of the grass blades to cut and remove thatch build up. It cuts into grass debris and horizontal stolons/runners and rhizomes and pulls them up to the surface. Once the cuts are made into the turf, it is time to overseed and fertilize.
Why is Aeration KC seed different?
Aeration KC uses local Heatwave seed from the Grass Pad. "Only the most heat tolerant and drought tolerant fescue grasses with superior performance in Kansas City and the midwest are selected for Heat Wave. The deeper growing root system of Heat Wave fescue will allow grass plants to naturally access more water and nutrients without the need of extensive watering." - Grasspad
What does fertilizer do?
Fertilizer provides your yard with nitrogen along with restoring nutrients, regenerates and strengthens grass roots, iron and sulfur added, and quick starter for new grass. Fertilizer should have water applied as soon as it has been spread. For a healthy greener and vibrant lawn, apply fertilizer every 6 weeks thoughout the spring until the fall.
How much water do I need?
Seed and fertilizer needs water! However, watering your yard in the morning and evening can provide the best time for growth. Another key moment to water your lawn is after fertilizer and seed in applied. Be courious with your water if you are in a draught area or water restrictions have been put in place in your community.
